Recently I've been super into Devil May Cry (DMC). I have never played the games, and truthfully I don't have any interest in playing the games myself, but I am gushing about this game.

I am working my way through 'DMC the movie' on YouTube and reading the light novels. The 'movie' contains all the cinematic scenes from the games and it is strung togethere chronologically like a movie. As of today, I've seen DMC 3, DMC, and almost all of DMC 2.

Regardless of the way that the rest of the games unfold, I just want to say that I am elated that there is a protagonist, Dante, in a game who is super handsome, has a complex character, and is actually a GOOD GUY (did I not say that already!?). There are not many hot guys who are good guys in a cool af story nowadays. DMC is quite old, yes, but it is still relevant today, so I still feel like I am in the loop. I am sooo fangirling over Dante though, fr. He's a cool af human/demon who destroys demons in the coolest fashion ever. Like he fights like a bad ass because he is a badass. The athleticism, sword fighting techniques, and gunhandling is just so cool. Physically impossible, hence why it's cool lol.

Update Dec 10 Lol I thought that DMC 4 and 5 would be great. DMC 3 was where the story kicked off imo, so 4 and 5 would be good, too.

ahahahah weeeell, I watched the beginning of DMC 4 last night and looks like the church is the bad guy! LOL alright so, I cannot stand this JRPG trope. Every JRPG game I've attempted to play, though the list is not so extensive, has always had some kind of "church bad" take. And it's so annoying. Yes, institutions with power can become corrupt. You know what else can be corrupt? the government!

I don't have as many major gripes with the church being bad in DMC 4 as I traditionally would. I think this is because the church's head assasinated the original pope, then started secretly using demonic power to gain power. So the church didn't begin on the wrong foot. Something like Fire Emblem Three Houses bothers me more because the Church of Seiros was bad from the get-go.

So I read the synonpsis of DMC 4 instead, and it appears to me that Nero is the primary focus of the game. Nero is basically the new protag. Younger, basically not like Dante personality-wise lol. For that reason I don't want to watch the cinematics; DMC started with Dante, and when I hear the game I think of him and his character. I can be thickheaded and resistant to change, but it's difficult to change first impressions, especially since I hadn't had time to 'wait' between game releases. I had no time to sit and ponder and crave change.

I am not a fan of surprises, so I read the synopsis of DMC 5, too. From what I read, the story seems to be about Dante more, so I'll give that game a whirl.
